Despite the bitter cold weather, eager shoppers still lined up outside of Best Buy on Thursday to get some early Black Friday shopping done.
“Every year I come here, every one is wonderful… there’s no fighting like you see on the TV in Erie, I really enjoy it,” said Tara Therien, Canadian citizen. Therien and her family traveled all the way from Canada to get in on some good deals at Best Buy. She got two 50 inch flat screen T.V.s for $329. “You have a lot of different products that we can’t buy in Canada. So we come down here and we do that,” said Therien.
For Erie resident, Nathan Davison, he says it was worth standing in the cold because he was finally able to get a discount on the computer he’s been saving money for. “It’s very powerful and fast,” said Davison.
Over at the Millcreek Mall, the first 400 people in line got a swag bag full of goodies from candles to hats and even coupons to stores. Alyssa Trinh and her friends say they liked the swag bags and will definitely be shopping on Black Friday. “Anything and everything,” said Trinh.
And for Black Friday, the first 300 people in line at the mall will receive candy bars. Inside of the wrappers will be vouchers for mall gift cards. On Saturday, it will be small business Saturday which encourages people to shop at locally owned stores.
