Tonight marks the final night that area overflow shelters will be open to area residents.
The First Presbyterian Church of the Covenant in downtown Erie, along with over two dozen other church communities, have been providing people a place to stay as well as a hot meal, shower, and other essentials for seven years now.
Together, they have helped hundreds of people stay warm throughout the winter months.
Kurt Crays, Executive Director of the Erie United Methodist Alliance, tells us, “Our Neighbors Place has welcomed individuals as young as 17 and as old as 83 and everybody in between; males or females. Again, our goal is to is move people from homelessness to home; from hopeless to hope.”
The shelter will close for the season at 7:30 tomorrow morning.
