There’s no severe weather to report in our area today, but in Crawford County, it sure didn’t sound like it.
A county-wide tornado preparedness drill begins with the siren from the fire department. Schools, businesses, and emergency managers then enact their emergency plans of what they would do if a real tornado is on the ground.
Emergency managers say that everyone should use the exercise to review where they are and what they would do to stay safe.
Allen Clark of Crawford Emergency Management says, “Wherever you were at 9am this morning, stop and think… Where would be the safest place for me to be if a tornado was coming?”
The drill is part of a multi-state weather exercise called, ‘Operation Atlantic Fury’ which simulates a storm system coming up the east coast.
