ERIE, PA., October 25, 2018 – The U Pick 6 Group, the corporate parent behind local restaurants such as the Tap House, which is located in downtown Erie, is donating a total of $25,000 to the Erie Downtown Development Corporation (“EDDC”) to help revitalize downtown.
To show its long-term commitment, the U Pick 6 Group will pay the donated funds over a period of five years.
The funds will be used toward advancing the EDDC goals of increasing the number of housing units in downtown, increasing the number of businesses in downtown, and increasing the quality of life in downtown for all residents.
“The U Pick 6 team has a proven track record of starting and operating great local businesses, including downtown favorite the Tap House,” said EDDC CEO John Persinger. “We are thrilled that they believe in the mission of the EDDC, the future of downtown Erie, and the potential for the region. We are excited to rely on their expertise to create great spaces downtown.”
“We have never seen this much excitement about Erie,” said John Melody, co-owner of U Pick 6. “We believe that the EDDC has been a big driver of this excitement. We wanted to do our part to help these revitalization efforts because we know that a strong downtown will boost the region as a whole.” Russ Stachewicz, co-owner of U Pick 6, added, “Being born and raised in Erie, we have always believed in downtown. We have invested in downtown Erie for over a decade and are excited to see the growth potential that EDDC brings to downtown.”
The EDDC has recently acquired 124,000 square feet of real estate in downtown Erie, and it is currently working on the redevelopment plans for those parcels.
The U Pick 6 Group currently operates four local businesses in the region, and it is working on its fifth, which will be located on Erie’s Bayfront.
The group also owns and operates the Public House, Harbor House, and the Beer Store, which is soon to be a new brewery.
