An organization “calls in” the younger generation in an effort to make a difference. Unified Erie held their Group Violence Reduction Strategy Event, nicknamed, ‘The Call-In,’ the group gets the names of people to invite through intel. and data gathered by police.
For this event, the age range was 14 to 21-year-olds with a criminal background. The goal is to help keep them out of trouble. “What we are trying to do is to get to them before they commit these senseless crimes… but at the same time knowing that there is someone that can encourage you to seek the long goal which is what you do today will affect the rest of your life.”
In April, they hosted 18 to 26-year-olds. 14 people attended and Unified Erie helped them get jobs, GED’s, and other services.
