February 11, also known as 211 Day. A day to celebrate the life-changing assistance that the service hotline has assisted with.
211 is a national service hotline that offers community information, as well as a referral service. Individuals can call the number 24\7 for a number of different services. Organizers of the hotline met with are local service providers to discuss the importance of the hotline. United Way will sponsor a $1000 grant for one local provides that updates their 211 profile. Many of the guest in attendance say that they have had to refer someone to the hotline.
“Since our food pantry closed, we have had a lot of need for 211 to get people connected with other food banks,” said Erie City Mission’s Patty White.
