Vacant House Catches Fire, Seriously Damaged

Local News

Fire seriously damages a vacant house in Erie this evening.

Just after 5:30, firefighters were called to 427 West 17th Street. They found heavy smoke and fire coming from the three story building. That’s according to Deputy Fire Chief Mike Fahey who says most of the fire was put out quickly. But, it took more than an hour to get the scene under control because fire got inside the walls and ceilings.

One firefighter suffered a knee injury when he went through a hole in the floor. The cause is under investigation.
