VisitErie, the leader for marketing Erie’s tourism industry and promoting its economic growth, awarded multiple collaborative marketing projects representing 25 local tourism businesses with matching funds as part of their annual Tourism Matching Funds Cooperative Marketing Program. A total of $200,500 was given out to programs ranging from $2,000 to $50,000.
A check presentation took place Friday, June 22, to Lake Erie Wine Country, Mazza Vineyards, expERIEnce Children’s Museum, Scott Enterprises, Donatos Pizza, Erie Philharmonic, North East Chamber, YMCA, Erie Promotions, Waldameer, and Presque Isle Downs and Casino.
VisitErie created the tourism matching funds program as a result of the increase in marketing dollars from the raised hotel/motel tax. Co-op dollars from VisitErie were used as a match fund for cooperative advertising initiatives by VisitErie partners for the purpose of increasing tourism’s economic impact in Erie County, Pennsylvania.
The program goals are to encourage cooperative programs between local tourism-related businesses that will nurture relationships and broaden the message to potential visitors.
