After surviving an Opioid crisis addicts need a place to turn. The Governor and his team discussing ways to connect people who overdose with the resources they need to move forward.
The Wolf administration held their regional summit to address a facilitated referral process. It’s called a warm hand off. The goal is to get an overdose survivor from the hospital emergency department into some form of treatment.
The summit pulling together the entities that need to be involved. “At some of the summits we have heard stories from individuals who have actually survived an overdose and have participated,” said the secretary for Pennsylvania’s department of drug and alcohol programs Jennifer Smith.
A total of eight summits were held across the Commonwealth.
