Warren Homicide Defendents Will Likely Stand Trial

Two men charged with the brutal murder of 18-year-old Marcus Mattson were expected to be in court Thursday morning at the Warren County Courthouse. Both defendants waived their right to a formal arraignment.

State Police have filed homicide charges against 25-year-old James McDaniel for Mattson’s death.

22-year-old Gary Ralph Williams is charged with abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence.

State police say their investigation revealed that the victim had gone to 275 Abraham Hollow Rd for a drug transaction involving money.The deal went bad, Mattson was shot in a crawl space with a pistol by McDaniel.

According to the criminal complaint ,unable to move the body, McDaniel and Williams attempted to burn Mattson’s body, before burying him in the dirt flooring.

Police say the two suspects then drove the victim’s car to a remote road in Youngsville and lit it on fire.

Both suspects waived their right to a preliminary hearing a few weeks ago and again waived their right to a formal arraignment Thursday.

This case is expected to go to trial in June.
