We take a peek into a ‘Boots and Badges’ hockey practice and find a lot of enthusiasm

Local News

Local officers and firefighters are heating up the ice at the Mercyhurst Ice Rink during a practice.  The 9th Annual Boots and Badges event is set for this upcoming Saturday.

The charity game brings together local police officers, firefighters, and medical personnel for a hockey game. The game will be held at Erie Insurance Arena.  Tickets are $16, and all proceeds collected benefit Erie Youth Hockey.

Players say they enjoy participating in the event.

Badges Captain Jake Washek tells us, “It’s awesome… A lot of fun. There is a great group of guys for the badges, as well as the boots, so it is a lot of fun for everyone. “

Fun fact for the event; all the players have to sell 10 tickets, equalling $160 raised just by the players.

This Friday, you can catch John Sorge to learn more about boots and badges, right here on JET 24…
