We visit the Aki Himalayan Salt Room in the Colony Plaza to see what it’s all about…

Local News

Imagine sitting in a room surrounded by blocks of salt that are 200 million years old.  That’s what you’ll be doing if you visit the Aki Himalayan Salt Room in the Colony Plaza in Millcreek.

The room is built with hand-cut blocks of salt.  On the floor is several inches of salt as well.

The owner, Kathy Sheraw, says people use her room for a variety of reasons, including helping with sinus infections.  Once in the room, special equipment dispenses dry air salt so you’re breathing in salt air.

“People with PTSD, anxiety, COPD on oxygen come in here. It can help a very wide range of ailments and support.”

Sheraw says several of her customers use the salt room to meditate.
