What to remember if you’re voting for the first time

Local News

Experts say first-time voters are some of the most important Americans to show up on Election Day because they represent the newest voices.

For new voters, debates are a good way to learn about the candidates and where they stand on the issues.  It’s important to be sure where you are voting and have proper identification ready.

If you are not in the United States, you have the option of the absentee ballot by providing your voting residence information in an application.

Erie County Clerk Douglas Smith tells us,  “If it’s your first time and you’re excited and you want to take a selfie, you’re permitted but we ask that you don’t include the voting screen.”

If you need help when you are behind the voting machines, you can raise your hand and someone will assist you.
