Children and families are learning what it took for the Tuskegee Airmen to rise above.
The CAF Red Tail Squadrons’ traveling exhibit is at the North Coast Flight School at Erie International Airport this week. ‘Rise Above,’ an exhibit honoring the nation’s first African-American pilots, includes a WWII P51C Mustang Aircraft and mobile movie theater with a documentary about their journey.
Tour Manager Terry Hollis says, “These guys had to overcome more obstacles than anybody in past history. They literally had to… they were just put through things that kids nowadays would never have to experience.”
The exhibit is free to the public and continues on Saturday and Sunday from 8am-5pm.
