The Wolf Administration is hoping to hold down Pennsylvania’s growing number of flu cases through a free program at this year’s farm show.
The Pennsylvania Health Department is offering free flu shots to anyone going to the show this week. The decision to offer the free shots came after this year’s strain proved to be both deadly and quick-spreading. The state has seen more than 11,000 confirmed cases of flu this season with 18 deaths.
Dr. Rachel Levine, Acting PA Secretary of Health, warns, “If you haven’t had a flu shot, it’s not too late. We want people to come right down here to the Farm Show with the family. Come right here to the booth at the Department of Health and get a completely free flu shot.”
If you’re not heading to Harrisburg anytime soon, don’t worry. The flu shot is readily available in our area, as well.
LifeWorks is offering flu shots, free up-front with insurance card, at 406 Peach Street Monday through Friday 9am-4:30pm. And, Frontier Pharmacy is offering the same at 1202 West 6th Street on 1/15 from 11am to 1pm and 1/17 from 11am to 1pm and 4pm to 6pm.
