In a few hours, hundreds of millions of people across the globe are expected to tune in to the royal wedding. If you’re a royal fanatic, Elena LaQuatra is here to tell you how to get in on the fun right here in Erie.
Some people love it, others could not care less, but this will undoubtedly be the most-watched wedding of the year.
After a brief engagement, American Actress Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are hours away from tying the knot. Though the extravagant wedding will take place at the Windsor Castle in England, businesses in Erie are getting in on the royal fun.
Suzanne Bellow, Owner of Bridal Elegance, says, “You cannot deny that it is the most momentous wedding of the entire year!”
Bridal Elegance in Millcreek Township is celebrating the royal couple with champagne all day. Anyone in need of a dress or gown is invited to shop in their hats and tiaras. The shop is also having a special sale for customers.
If food is more your thing, you can head to the Avalon Hotel and Conference Center for their ‘Royal Tea’ beginning at 10am. Though they host the tea every Tuesday through Saturday, they’re kicking it up a notch for the royal wedding.
Jessica Farbo, of the Avalon Hotel & Banquet Center, tells us there will be, “Little mini tea sandwiches, scones, truffles, a whole bunch of really yummy foods that I think everyone will really enjoy and of course everything comes with a mimosa!”
Coverage of the royal wedding begins at 5am eastern standard time on Saturday.
But, if the early wake-up call isn’t for you, the Avalon will be recording it for guests to watch while enjoying their tea.
Many people will be tuning into this historic wedding to see the many, royal fashions. The hats, the outfits, and of course, which gown, veil, and famous tiara will Meghan Markle choose? Bello shows us one tiara saying, “This is sort of a take on one of Lady Diana’s earlier crowns. It’s got a nice peaked shape to the top and has a nice little sparkle.”
As a former pageant girl, I’m dying to see the tiara and the gown. So I’ll definitely be one of those waking up at the crack of dawn to tune in.
