President Donald Trump says he’ll make a decision soon on who will be his next Chief of Staff. The position will become available at the end of the year, when current Chief of Staff John Kelly steps down.
It was rumored that Nick Ayers, Chief of Staff to Vice President Mike Pence, would assume the same role for the president. But, Ayers said he would leave the administration at the end of the year. The president is reportedly considering several choices, but it’s not clear who on that list actually wants the job.
Whoever steps in to the chief of staff role will immediately face several big challenges as democrats take over the House in January, a final report from Special Counsel Robert Mueller is looming, and there could be more turnover among senior staff.
