Wife testifies, stands with husband Anthony LaCastro; accused of shooting at state troopers

Local News

Day two of testimony wrapping up this afternoon on the third day of trial for a Summit Township man accused of trying to kill state troopers.

The prosecution says they will most likely rest their case tomorrow in the trial of Anthony LaCastro.  LaCastro is being charged with five counts of attempted homicide of law enforcement officers.  This coming after an incident that happened in early 2018 when LaCastro fired an AR-15 rifle at Pennsylvania State Troopers.

Today, multiple people took the stand, including a crime scene mapper, ballistics expert, a trooper who was on the scene, and LaCastro’s Wife, Ruth Ann LaCastro.

His wife, also at the scene that night, allegedly locked herself in the garage while her husband was shooting.

She also came to her husband’s defense today saying she doesn’t think he had the intent to kill anyone that night.

Meanwhile, the prosecution still maintains their case that LaCastro intended to kill state troopers.

The prosecution added that jury deliberation could start tomorrow.
