A group of high school students team up for a cardboard challenge.
29 students from Erie High and Union City High Schools who are a part of the educational talent search program through Intermediate Unit 5, or IU5. Today, the students tested their engineering and design skills with canoes made from cardboard and duct tape.
Brittany Bowers, Educational Facilitator for IU5, says, “It really goes through the entire STEM process. The engineering and design phases. They really worked really hard so we’re excited to see what they can do.”
Eileen Olsen, Program Supervisor for IU5 says, “It helps them get ready for post-secondary education. It’s year-round. They meet with our academic advisors to help them get ready for college.”
The students spent the week at Penn State Behrend getting a feel for college life.
