The concept of innovation was the inspiration for a shot at some real money for college students.
This was thanks to the Innovative Collaborative’s 6th annual Erie Collegiate Innovation Showcase. It pits college sponsored teams of students and their mentors, in a competition to showcase prototypes of inventions created by those teams. The teams present their work to judges, who make the decision for the prize money. But organizers say competition is just one aspect of the event.
“So whether you continue on with your product or business, or you don’t you learn a lot of great skills that can be taken into any walk of life,” said Carl Nicolia, Chair of Innovative Collaborative.
The $2,500 grand champion prize went to the Autonomous Snow Removal Robot sponsored by Gannon. The $2,000 first place prize was awarded to Greenhouse and Garden sponsored by Gannon as well.
