Woman serving life in prison tries to withdraw guilty plea, judge denies request

Local News

A woman serving life in prison for murder will not be allowed to withdraw her guilty plea.

Crawford County Judge Mark Stevens has denied the request of Ashley Barber.  She pled guilty to the 2012 brutal murder of Brandy Stevens.

Barber and Co-defendant Jade Olmstead lured the victim to a rural Crawford County home where they admitted they beat her and buried her alive.

Both defendants pled guilty to murder and are now serving life sentences.  Crawford County District Attorney Francis Shultz praised the decision of Judge Stevens.
