Woman ‘stable’ after New Years shooting

A New Years Day shooting involving a married couple leads to charges for both spouses.

Police say 72-year-old Joe Bush shot his wife 61-year-old Ida in the stomach after an argument on New Years morning.

Ida now in stable condition at UPMC Hamot.

Joe told police that he returned gunfire after Ida shot at him. It happened in the 2100 block of Glendale Avenue around 8 Sunday morning. Police recovered two guns from the scene and found spent shell casings from both weapons.

Both Joe and Ida Bush face charges of aggravated assault and reckless endangerment.

Joe is in Erie County prison on 100-thousand dollars bond.

Ida remains at UPMC Hamot.
