Around July 4th we always think of planning our gatherings; making the grocery list, calling/texting our friends and family, and grooming our yards so they’re ready for company. But, July 4th is also about celebrating those who have fought and are fighting for our independence.
You can help recognize those soldiers by attending the 5th Annual Warrior 5K this Saturday. The Warrior 5k is a run that raises money for local veterans in need and local veteran non-profits. Part of the proceeds are also donated to the Sgt Donald Oaks, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund. This run usually has about 150 runners, with some coming from North Carolina and Florida.
