A representative of the J.M. Smucker company has filed a WARN notice with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor for the Ainsworth Pet Nutrition corporate office in Meadville.
The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act requires companies with 100 employees or more to provide 60-day notice of plant closings or mass layoffs.
The company announced earlier in the year that they would be consolidating five offices of the pet food business, including the Meadville office, into their Orrville headquarters.
The J.M. Smucker representative, Ray Hancart, says, “please know that while the notice references the potential elimination of positions, we will be offering full-time roles to some of the employees that currently work out of the Meadville office. We are still working to determine the full number and scope of positions that will be available.”
The company also made clear that this consolidation will not affect the Meadville production facility, and that part of the business will remain intact.
The corporate representatives say they have been in contact with Meadville employees about the changes and will keep them updated. They say there should be no immediate changes.
We have been in contact with Meadville employees about these changes and are committed to keeping them updated with the latest information.
