ERIE, Pa. — An advocate for millennials, who is also a college student, enters the race for Erie City Council.
Michael Haas announced his run on the Democratic ticket Saturday afternoon at the Dramashop in Erie. He kicked off his campaign asserting that young people can boost Erie’s economy.
“My main reason for running is really to keep those students who come here–to Gannon, to Mercyhurst, to Penn State Behrend–a reason to stay in Erie and live here,” said Haas. “We need to encourage brain gain and avoid brain drain.”
Four of the seven seats on the council, currently held by Democrats, are up for grabs.
