Logan Thomas may play football for a living, but football was far from most important for him and his family this week.
Though she was not due to deliver until April, Thomas’ wife Brandie went into premature labor on Monday night to deliver their daughter. Brooklyn Rose Thomas passed away a short time after on Tuesday.
Thomas returned to the Bills on Thursday to find his teammates and coaches happy to see him in relatively positive spirits.
“There’s a bunch of guys in this locker room that care for me, love me, love my family and are willing to do whatever for me,” said Thomas to reporters in the locker room on Friday. “That’s the big thing.”
The Bills tight end is expected to play Sunday when the Bills face the Oakland Raiders. Thomas said he didn’t consider missing the game.
“The way that he and his family have handled this, just really speaks volumes about who they are,” said coach Sean McDermott during his Friday press conference. “I am 100% confident that they will use this to continue to grow closer as a family. I was just happy to see Logan’s smiling face in here yesterday, not from a football standpoint at all but more so just for him to be around, for us to embrace him and for him to be around his teammates also.”
