Doug Marrone will be on the field in Orchard Park Sunday for the first time since he abruptly opted out of his contract New Year’s Eve 2014.
Marrone is now the assistant head coach/offensive line coach in Jacksonville. The Jags visit Buffalo this weekend.
Rex Ryan hopes Marrone does not enjoy his stay.
“I hope it’s a miserable experience, for everybody (on the Jags),” Ryan said. “I know the team played hard when Doug was the head coach here, but how things worked out. I don’t know.
“Doug’s not this team’s coach anymore. I am. I’m blessed to be the coach here. This is as loyal a fanbase as there is. We want to create that miserable day for everybody coming in here.”
Rex does not plan any of his own sudden getaways.
“They’re going to have to take me kicking and screaming out of this place,” Ryan said. “It ain’t going to happen for a long time.”
If the Bills are to have any kind of legitimate playoff run, they can’t afford a loss to Jacksonville.
“It would be a big step back.”
