A would-be lawyer ends up a school teacher. And, now this educator is being recognized for making a difference in the lives of young people every day.
Mrs. Jo-Lee Swanson teaches fourth grade at Mother Teresa Academy. She thought she wanted to be a lawyer, but then followed her heart and is glad she did. In just four years in the classroom, Swanson has taught every grade, k-4. What is it she enjoys the most? The moment she sees things ‘click’.
One thing this young teacher learned quickly is the secret ingredient to having success in the classroom. Building a relationship made all the difference for this week’s student nominator who says Mrs. Swanson helps make it easy because she “makes learning fun”.
