This week’s Good Kid is committed to serving others. Traci Teudhope takes us to Brevillier Village today to see how our good kid has been spending her summer.
From the moment she came into this world, Maikayla Fisher has stolen the hearts of her great grandmothers.
“I remember her when she was a baby and she was a wee little thing because she was so precious.”
“She’s a sweetheart, I dearly love her.”
Today, at just 12 years old, she spends her Wednesday mornings, all summer long, helping with the church services at Brevillier Village, where you’ll also find her two great grandmothers, Diane and Doris.
As you can imagine, they just adore Maikayla. “She’s always smiling. She’s joyful, cheerful, just a neat person to be around.”
Maikayla helps with the service by doing readings, saying prayers, and announcing names during mass. “The first time I was shocked. She didn’t tell me, she surprised me” and even if her grandmother forgets to make it to mass, she’s there to offer a friendly reminder and a helping hand. “She comes and gets me and wheels me back so I get a free ride.”
