JET 24 is helping foster children find warm and loving homes. Tonight, we meet a teen who wants to help others, responding to their needs.
‘If you could paint the life that you wanted, what would it look like?’ we asked 17 year old Mykaela.
“Ever since I was little, I’ve wanted to be an EMT or paramedic. Then, I saw a flight paramedic. And I talked to one and it was very interesting, and that’s what clicked.”
Mykaela likes helping and being around people, and with her work ethic, she’ll be soaring in no time. “I like working,” she tells us, “I have two jobs. Just being with other people.”
But, life hasn’t been so colorful over the past year, separated from family and her Siberian Husky, the ceramic dog that she’s painting reminds her of him. “It’s one of the ways I can express myself better. So, it’s a lot easier to express myself with painting instead of writing.”
As Mykaela expresses the kind of family she hopes to find, she says she’d like to have siblings, but more importantly, she wants someone to be there for her. “I just want someone to be supportive with whatever I do and encouraging. And, I would just like to be a part of a great family.”
If you think Mykaela would be a good fit for your family, or want to learn more about options for adoption, contact Family Services of Northwestern Pennsylvania at 814-866-4549.
