Hoffman Estates, IL- The Windy City Bulls (23-25), presented by BMO Harris Bank, the official NBA Development League affiliate of the Chicago Bulls, earned their fourth-straight victory with a 101-92 defeat over the Erie BayHawks Tuesday night at the Sears Centre Arena.
Cameron Payne, on assignment from the Chicago Bulls, paced Windy City with 20 points, nine assists and five rebounds. Alfonzo McKinnie chipped in 19 points and eight rebounds and Wesley Saunders added 13 points and seven assists.
The BayHawks (13-35), the NBA D-League Affiliate of the Orlando Magic, received a game-high 26 points from T.J. Price. Shevon Thompson came off the bench to add 20 points.
After trailing 29-27 after the first quarter, the Bulls outscored the BayHawks 28-18 in the second period behind eight points by McKinnie to take a 55-47 lead at halftime.
It appeared the Bulls would pull away twice in the third quarter when a layup by McKinnie gave Windy City a 59-48 advantage, but the BayHawks used an 11-0 run to tie the game just minutes later thanks to a three-point shot by Kalin Lucas. The Bulls answered with an 8-0 run of their own to pull ahead 67-59, but the BayHawks once again went on another run, this time regaining the lead 68-67 on a three-pointer by Shevon Thompson with 3:04 remaining in the period.
Another run in the fourth quarter helped Windy City pull away for good, taking a 101-86 lead on another basket by McKinnie with 3:04 remaining in regulation as the Bulls went on to win the contest.
Windy City assisted on 28 of 39 field goals while shooting 44% from the field.
