Erie BayHawks Changing Affiliates Beginning Next Season

The Erie BayHawks will change NBA affiliations from the Atlanta Hawks to the New Orleans Pelicans beginning next season (2019-2020) and according to a source close to the situation, the BayHawks will run the New Orleans’ G-League team in Erie for three seasons.

According to numerous media reports, the Pelicans plan to place a G-League team in Birmingham, Alabama, but the city’s arena won’t be ready until at least the 2020-2021 season.

Our source says the BayHawks and the Pelicans have agreed to a two-year contract with an option for a third but both sides are in agreement to keep the team in Erie until the end of the 2021-2022 season.

The team has yet to confirm the report but a news conference has been tentatively scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
