Following in the footsteps of several teammates, Otters forward Ivan “Vonya” Lodnia realized his National Hockey League dreams today being selected in the third round of the NHL draft.
The Minnesota Wild selected Lodnia with the 85th overall pick this morning in Chicago.
Lodnia was ranked as the 36th best North American born skater according to the NHL’s central scouting final ranking.
Lodnia registered five points between the Ontario Hockey League playoffs and the Memorial Cup during the Otters’ postseason run.
He also totaled 59 points in 66 games during the regular season including 24 goals.
Lodnia was the lone Otter player selected in today’s draft as forwards Kyle maksimovich and Gerra Poddubnyi went undrafted.
