“This is a great addition the 2017 Season fueled by Kwik Fill,” stated Operations Manager, A.J., Moore. “We hosted the Race of Champions for a series race one year ago and it instantly became a classic as a local racer, Will Thomas, visited victory lane for the first time back to Lake Erie Speedway since switching gears to run on dirt.”
“We approached the topic of hosting this landmark event in a formal discussion with Race of Champions management on a few occasions,” explained Moore. “It became a reality once we put together a meeting with the Erie Sports Commission and we instantly reached some common ground and were able to forge a deal, that we hope will be very long-term, healthy for the sport and the speedway and most importantly have a positive financial impact on Erie and the surrounding communities.”
