SEAWOLVES ANNOUNCE 2017 PROMOTIONAL SCHEDULE
(Erie, PA) – The Erie SeaWolves, Double-A Affiliate of the Detroit Tigers, have released the team’s 2017 promotional calendar. 2017 Opening Day, presented by Plyler Overhead Door, is Thursday, April 6 against the Trenton Thunder (New York Yankees) at 6:35 p.m. Gates will open at 4 p.m. so fans can watch batting practice. Fans can also enjoy the fourth annual Opening Day Bash featuring entertainment in the UPMC Park plaza.
This season’s slate features 13 Zambelli fireworks nights, including three consecutive Independence Day Weekend shows on July 1, 2 and 3. On all three nights, the team will wear commemorative Stars & Stripes jerseys that will be auctioned off to benefit the Pennsylvania Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Home. 2017 fireworks musical themes include Motown Greats (May 6), Van Halen (May 27), Taylor Swift (June 3), Foo Fighters (June 24), Billy Joel (July 1), Hits of the 80’s (July 2), Themes of the Armed Forces (July 15), Christmas Carols (July 25), Star Wars (August 5), One-Hit Oneders (August 12), Steve Miller Band (August 24) and Led Zeppelin (August 26).
Every Friday home game in 2017 will feature a promotional giveaway. On April 22, the first 1,000 fans will receive a SeaWolves winter cap courtesy of Pepsi. On May 5, the first 1,000 fans ages 21 & older will receive a SeaWolves pint glass for Cinco de Mayo. May 26 is the first of three bobblehead giveaways in 2017 as the first 1,000 fans will receive a Michael Fulmer American League Rookie of the Year collectible courtesy of the Clarion Lake Erie and Bel-Aire Conference Center. On June 23, the first 1,000 fans will receive a SeaWolves pillow case. The first 1,000 kids (ages 4-14) will receive a youth jersey courtesy of VisitPITTSBURGH on June 30. 2016 American League Championship Series MVP Andrew Miller will be featured on the second bobblehead giveaway of the year on July 14 for the first 1,000 fans. The bobblehead series wraps up on Harry Potter Night on August 4 with a Quidditch C. Wolf nodder for the first 1,000 fans. On August 11, the first 1,000 fans ages 15 and older will receive a replica Fauxback Friday SeaWolves jersey.
Many of the team’s top game day promotions will return in 2017. Monday home games (excluding July 3) will feature Buck Night concession specials with Smith’s hot dogs, Pepsi soft drinks, popcorn and select draft beers for just $1 each. The first Buck Night, presented by Budweiser and Rocket 101, will be Monday, April 10.
The first 250 kids (ages 12 & under) through the gates at each Kids Eat Free Tuesday game will be treated to a free Smith’s hot dog, a bag of Utz potato chips and a Pepsi fountain drink thanks to 94.7 BOB-FM. Fans can also enjoy Two-Buck Tuesday specials (select draft beers for $2) in the Bud Light Beer Garden through the sixth inning. Other day-of-the-week promotions include AAA Member Wednesdays (AAA members save $2 on tickets at the UPMC Park Ticket Office), Yuengling Thursdays ($2 Yuengling drafts at the Smith’s Shack until the end of the third inning) and Happy Hour Fridays ($2 drink specials exclusively in the Bud Light Beer Garden until first pitch). For each Saturday home game, fans can purchase a McDonald’s Friends and Family package. Each McDonald’s Friends and Family package includes two (2) SeaWolves game tickets, two (2) SeaWolves caps and two (2) McDonald’s Extra Value Meals all for as low as $18.
Sunday games feature multiple promotions including Wendy’s Scratch & Win Sunday (the first 500 fans receive guaranteed winning scratch-off card), Erie Federal Credit Union Family Fun Day (Erie FCU members can receive a voucher for a free Smith’s hot dog and fountain drink with each regularly priced Sunday ticket they purchase at the ticket office) and Kids Crew Day (Kids Crew members receive free admission to game to all 1:35 p.m. Sunday games thanks to Giant Eagle and Star 104).
The SeaWolves will once again partner with area businesses to support community initiatives. Local school students will learn during Education Days presented by UPMC Health Plan with special 11:05 a.m. start times on May 17, May 18, May 24 and May 25. The SeaWolves and UPMC Health Plan will “Paint the Park Pink” during the weekend of June 2-4. Players will don pink jerseys that will be auctioned off with proceeds benefitting the Hamot Health Foundation. On Friday, June 2, the first 1,000 fans (ages 13 & older) receive a pink SeaWolves t-shirt while Saturday, June 3 will feature post-game fireworks. On Saturday, July 15, the SeaWolves will host Military Appreciation Night presented by Presque Isle Downs & Casino. The SeaWolves will wear special military-themed jerseys that will be auctioned off benefiting veterans’ charities. On Sunday, August 13 the SeaWolves will host their seventh annual sensory-friendly game in partnership with Autism Society NWPA.
OTHER NOTABLE NIGHTS
On Tuesday, July 18, the Cowboy Monkey Rodeo will entertain fans during and after the game. The SeaWolves will welcome three-time All-Star and former Cleveland Indians great Carlos Baerga for an autograph signing and exclusive meet & greet on Thursday, August 24. Dog owners can bring their leashed pets to the games on Tuesday, June 13 and Tuesday, August 15 for Bark at the Park.
The team will host its annual Family Campout after the game on Friday, June 23. The SeaWolves will also host three Saturday beer tasting events in the Bud Light Beer Garden on June 3, June 24 and August 5.
Erie SeaWolves single-game tickets will be available for purchase online, via phone and at the UPMC Park ticket office starting Saturday, March 11 at 10 a.m. The team will celebrate Super Ticket Saturday with prize giveaways and free food and drinks compliments of Panera Bread, Smith Provision Co., Utz Quality Snacks, Cellone’s and Pepsi. Rocket 101 will be on site from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Fans can purchase individual game tickets, season ticket packages and a wide selection of NEW SeaWolves merchandise
Fans can help the SeaWolves ‘Stuff the Batter’s Box’ to benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank of NW PA. Fans who donate non-perishable food items to Second Harvest on SUPER TICKET SATURDAY will be entered into a drawing for SeaWolves tickets and VIP experiences. The SeaWolves will award over $1,000 in prizes to fans donating at the food drive. During fiscal year 2015-2016, Second Harvest provided 13 million pounds of food to 167,700 recipients in our region.
