The Erie SeaWolves (35-37) broke out the bats late to take a 7-3 win over the Bowie Baysox (35-38).
The Baysox struck first in the opening frame as Cedric Mullins sent the eighth pitch of the game towards right for a solo home run as Bowie took an early 1-0 lead.
The SeaWolves answered in the fourth as Grayson Greiner got a one-out triple before coming in to sore on a sacrifice fly by Zach Cox as Erie tied the game 1-1.
The Baysox struck back in the sixth as Adam Brett Walker led off with a home run to left-center. Afterwards, Austin Wynns got on with a one-out single, advanced to second on a Steve Wilkerson walk and came around to score on a two-out base hit as Bowie took a 3-1 lead.
The Wolves immediately responded in the bottom of the sixth as Dominic Ficociello led off with a single and advanced to second on a Mike Gerber walk before coming around to score on a Christin Stewart RBI single. During the play, Gerber reached third due to a throwing error on Austin Hays. Greiner would take advantage of Bowie’s snafu as he brought Gerber in to score with a sacrifice fly as Erie tied the game 3-3.
The SeaWolves would take the lead in the eighth as Gerber and Stewart led off with back-to-back singles. After they both advanced on a Greiner walk, they would come in to score on RBI Base Hits from Cox and Kody Eaves while Greiner advanced to third. Cox would advance to third on a force out at home on Greiner before coming in to score on a Logan Watkins RBI Single as Erie pulled away 7-3.
SeaWolves pitcher Sea Donatell (3-3) picked up the win, giving up four hits over two scoreless innings of relief. Starter Beau Burrows got the no-decision, giving up three runs on nine hits and a walk while striking out five in 5 1/3 innings.
Baysox pitcher Brandon Barker (4-3) got the loss, giving up seven runs on nine hits, two walks and three strikeouts in four relief innings. Jesus Liranzo got the no-decision, giving up a hit on four walks while striking out three in three innings.
The SeaWolves will wrap up the weekend tomorrow afternoon with a doubleheader starting at 12:05 pm. Erie will send LHP Tyler Alexander (3-5, 4.98 ERA) to the mound for Game 1 while Bowie will have LHP John Means (3-7, 5.08 ERA). Victor Alcantara (0-1, 1.96 ERA) will start for Erie in game two.
