The SeaWolves triumphed at First Energy Stadium for their third straight win, beating the Reading Fightin Phils 7-3
Daz Cameron wasted no time in getting the SeaWolves on the board against Franklyn Kilome. The centerfielder smacked an RBI-double to bring home Sergio Alcantara, but was gunned down attempting to stretch the hit into a triple.
Alcantara followed Cameron’s example in the third inning, blasting a double into right to score Harold Castro and then was promptly thrown out at third going for a triple. After the first two innings, the SeaWolves led 2-0.

The SeaWolves finally found their triple in the fourth inning on Kilome. Will Maddox bounced a ball down the right field line to score Cameron and legged out his fourth triple of the season. Jake Rogers flew out to deep left, but it was enough to bring in Maddox to make it 4-0 Erie.
Erie added three more runs in the sixth inning. Kilome walked Cameron and Dominic Ficociellowith one out, ending his day after 5.1 innings pitched. Luke Leftiwich forced Maddox to ground out, bring up Jake Rogers. The catcher nailed a double to left center field to jump the SeaWolves up to 6-0. Kody Eaves kept the inning alive with a double down the left field line, scoring Rogers to make it 7-0 SeaWolves.
Reading started to climb back in the seventh inning on Erie reliever Kurt Spomer. Zach Greensingled to start off the inning, and Jiandido Tromp followed with a base knock of his own two at-bats later. Austin Bossart cranked an RBI-single to put Reading on the scoreboard for the first time. Malquin Canelo softly hit a ball to second, but Will Maddox fumbled ball and overthrew Alcantara. The double error allowed two runs to score, bringing Reading closer at a 7-3 score in the seventh.
Caleb Thielbar worked a scoreless eighth and ninth inning to end the game, clinching a series win at First Energy Stadium. Funkhouser (4-4) labored 6.0 IP scoreless, allowing five hits, two walks and three strikeouts. Kilome (2-5) received the loss for Reading, surrendering six of Erie’s runs on four hits, four walks and he fanned three. The SeaWolves (36-41) finish the 15-game series with Reading (34-44) with an 11-4 record against the Fightin Phils.
The SeaWolves return to UPMC Park to start a five game series with the Bowie Baysox on Friday. RHP Beau Burrows (6-5, 3.33 ERA) will face Bowie’s RHP Christian Binford (1-2, 3.86 ERA).
