Erie High Royals Team of the Week (8-27-17)

Team of the Week
The Erie High Royals head into week two of the high school football season in a battle of unbeatens against Cathedral Prep after scoring a 34-7 win over Meadville in the program’s inaugural game last night.
The Royals ran for nearly ten yards a carry on the way to 460 yards rushing against D-10’s class 5A defending champion in Meadville.
Sophomore running back Danny Blue scored the Royals’ first two touchdowns on the ground, while Senior quarterback Jason Williams threw for one and ran for another in head coach Rob Matz’ first win leading the program.
Head coach Rob Matz says, “I think we can be very dangerous.  I think we have a lot of things to build on.  We’ve just got to play and improve each week.  It’s gonna be a long season and we have some tough games.”
Senior quarterback Jason Williams says, “you never know what’s coming.  It could be a run, it could be a pass, it could be anything.  You never know what’s coming, you’ve gotta stay on us and play sound defense.”
Junior running back JGannon Williams says, “we proved to them like we could come together.  You know, three schools, they thought it was impossible, but we came and we showed them you know?”
Congrats to the Erie High Royals football team, this week’s Off-Road Express Team of the Week.
