We travel to Warren County for tonight’s Golden Apple Award. Lou Baxter tells us about the secret to success for a veteran of the classroom.
This week, we traveled to Eisenhower Elementary School in Warren County and we’re about to present the golden apple award to a very special kindergarten teacher. Tanya Swanson is a graduate of Edinboro University and has been teaching in the Warren County School District for 17 years. She loves teaching kindergarten. “I think it’s the growth that you see. They come in at all different levels.”
Three ingredients are in Mrs. Swanson’s recipe for successful teaching: patience, love, and encouragement. “Just working with them and making them the best they can be.”
Little Mackenzie Lendvay had Mrs. Swanson in kindergarten last year. She and her mom wanted to pay tribute to her. “She is very nice and when I was in kindergarten she did a lot of fun things.”
Swanson says, “Every little thing we do in the classroom really does make a difference and filters into the home. And, parents do appreciate what happens in our classrooms today.
